The City of Kingman is seeking Police Recruit for the Kingman Police Department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with competitive wage options and benefits. The Department is accredited and offers take-home vehicles, paid training, paid time off, and specialized assignment opportunities.
Salary: $27.58 / HR - $57,366 / Annually (Hire in recruit/Non-AZ POST Certified) or $28.96 / HR - $60,237 / Annually (Post Academy graduation/AZ POST Certified)

The City of Kingman Police Department is currently accepting applications on a continual basis for a career in law enforcement as a Kingman Police Officer. Important Dates & TestingNote: If you are seeking to attend a law enforcement/peace officer training academy, you must be 21 years of age upon completion of the academy.
- October 20th and 21st (we will reach out if you have been selected to test)
- Applications will be reviewed continuously in preparation for the January, 2026 Academy WALETA (Havasu)
- If eligible, you will be notified to begin the recruitment process.
- Testing may span approximately 2-3 days.
Testing for this position will consist of:
- Assessment Center
- Written Examination
- Oral Board Interview
- Physical Agility Testing - 500-yard run, 99-yard obstacle course, 6-foot chain link fence, 6-foot solid fence and 165 lb. body drag.

Recruits / Non-Certified: Qualified candidates will be invited to testing (Written, Physical Agility, Assessment Center, and Oral Boards). Each phase must be passed to move forward. The Written Exam is first, followed by the Assessment Center and Physical Agility, then the oral board scheduled the next day. Scheduling depends on the number of candidates.
Education & Experience- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- College coursework in criminal justice and/or equivalent education/experience preferred.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training to perform the work.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license;
Arizona State Certification as a police officer. - Ability to become and maintain TOC Level C Certified.
- Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological and other employment testing.
Performs general police work in the protection of life and property in a 24/7 operation. May be required to be called in for department needs.
Position LevelsPolice Officer – Non Certified Recruit:
This is a trainee class for protective service. Incumbents receive academy instruction to obtain AZ POST certification. Those who obtain certification receive further field training.
Assignments may include Detective, School Resource Officer, Bomb Squad, MAGNET/GIITEM, K-9, Field Training Officer, Recruit Training Officer, Traffic/Motor Officer, Flex, Honor Guard and other specialties. Supervision is provided by an Officer in Charge, Sergeant or higher. The employee may perform with limited supervision and is evaluated by results and reports.
