Job Description

JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with all matters of Living Assistance including, but not limited

to, personal hygiene and

grooming, planning and preparing meals, light housekeeping, laundry, and

helping in coping with the

routines of everyday life, providing basic companionship and moral

support. Assist in walking and

transportation to doctor appointments, outdoor activities, shopping, and

other excursions outside the

home. Follow principles of infection control and respond rapidly and

appropriately in an emergency

situation. Ensure clients rights are adhered to including, but not

limited to, the right to privacy and

dignity, the right to accept or refuse care, and the right to

confidentiality of the clients information.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Personal assistance services may be performed by an unlicensed person

who is at least 18 years of

age and has demonstrated competency, when competency cannot be

determined through education

and experience, to perform the tasks assigned by the supervisor. An

unlicensed person who is under

18 years of age, is a high school graduate, or is enrolled in a

vocational educational program and

has demonstrated competency to perform the tasks assigned by the

supervisor, may perform

personal assistance services.

JOB LIMITATIONS

A caregiver will not function in a manner viewed as the practice of

nursing according to the States

Nursing Practice Act. Specifically, the Caregiver will not administer

medications, take physicians

orders, or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge, and

skill of a licensed nurse.

Must be able to stand, walk,

squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Varied assistance is

required depending on the

ability of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Visual and

hearing acuity required.
