Industrial Injury Prevention Specialist - Kings Mountain, NC

Work Care, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Injury Prevention Specialist (IIPS) to collaborate with physicians and provide proactive prevention and management of workplace injuries and illnesses.

Job Summary

Industrial Injury Prevention Specialists are healthcare professionals who partner with physicians to deliver prevention, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions under physician direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide rapid first aid and medical care for employees as needed, including emergency care when the clinic is open within OSHA First Aid scope of practice.
  • Coordinate care with Work Care's Incident Intervention® Injury Management Program and utilize physician escalation services as needed.
  • Provide episodic care for minor medical issues, medical consultation, and recommendations according to treatment care guidelines in collaboration with the Work Care Consulting Medical Director and policies/procedures.
  • Practice evidence-based health promotion and develop, promote, and execute injury prevention techniques through ergonomic methodologies.
  • Make modifications to interventions to progress the employee or ensure safety and comfort.
  • Maintain frequent communication with the Work Care CMD and Work Care Supervisor regarding all clinic issues and client requests.
  • Support psychosocial strategies, referral to EAP, and case‑management efforts as necessary.
  • Develop job‑specific agility routines and related programs; provide on‑the‑job coaching to maintain physical performance.
  • Perform project‑based ergonomic solutions, Bio‑Ergonomic Assessments, and other employee intervention programs as requested.
  • Support health fairs and other wellness initiatives, including coaching on nutrition, fitness, sleep hygiene, and stress management.
  • Obtain data such as biometrics and provide wellness checks, obesity weigh‑ins, blood pressure checks, etc.
  • Facilitate use of company resources such as fitness centers and health risk appraisals.
  • Report to client and Work Care management periodically.
  • Support medical surveillance exams, drug testing, and other required governmental or corporate tests.
  • Assist with new‑hire exams, return‑to‑work/fitness‑for‑duty assessments, and transitional work plans.
  • Develop health‑care administration protocols and policies with the Work Care CMD.
  • Contribute insight to incident reports and tracking of injury and clinic utilization data.
  • Participate in emergency response team activities, drills, and training.
  • Maintain data, OSHA 300, and clinic encounter data entry using clinic software or EMR.
  • Order and maintain supplies to keep the clinic stocked.
  • Assist with noise sampling, dust sampling, and fire extinguisher checks.
  • Recommend over‑the‑counter medicines for episodic conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as identified by manager.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field.
  • Experience:

    At least 3 years of relevant experience; more than 2 years’ experience in an industrial setting preferred.
  • Certifications:

    CPR certification required; BOC Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • Experience in orthopedics, wellness, industrial/occupational health, or ergonomics a plus.
