Position Summary
The E&I Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and instrumentation systems within the facility. This role ensures equipment reliability, safe operations, and compliance with all electrical codes, standards, and plant requirements.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems up to [480V / 13.8kV—adjust as needed].
- Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, MCCs, switch gear, transformers, and power distribution equipment.
- Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash compliance, and safe electrical work practices.
- Run conduit, pull wire, terminate cables, and verify wiring against drawings.
- Test and calibrate electrical components and circuits.
- Install, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation including pressure, flow, temperature, level, and analytical sensors.
- Troubleshoot transmitters, control valves, analyzers, DCS/PLC inputs/outputs, and communication loops.
- Perform loop checks, instrument tuning, and configuration.
- Maintain instrument air systems and pneumatic components.
- Interpret and work from P&IDs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, and instrument specs.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Perform root‑cause analysis on recurring equipment failures.
- Document all work in the CMMS system (SAP/Maximo/etc.).
- Assist with commissioning and startup of new equipment and projects.
- Follow all site safety policies, electrical codes (NEC/NFPA 70E), and environmental standards.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and proper tool condition.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and contractors.
- Provide status updates and technical support to supervisors and project teams.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree or trade school training in Electrical or Instrumentation preferred.
- 3–5+ years of industrial E&I experience (refinery, chemical, power, manufacturing, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, loop sheets, and manuals.
- Proficiency in calibration, troubleshooting, and control system fundamentals.
- Familiarity with PLC/DCS systems (Allen‑Bradley, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, etc.).
- Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work at heights, in confined spaces, or outdoors.
- Able to stand, walk, climb, or kneel for extended periods.
- Industrial/plant setting with exposure to heat, noise, chemicals, and rotating equipment.
- May require overtime, weekends, on‑call, or shift work.
