Theatre Scrub Nurse

Bank work for NHS Professionals, placing registered nurses in the operating theatres of University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust on a flexible basis. The work centres on giving skilled clinical and technical support to the operating theatre team, from preparing sterile equipment to assisting surgeons during procedures. Shifts are chosen through the staff bank, and fixed-term placements are also available. Applicants need NMC registration and at least six months' experience as a registered nurse in theatres.

• Provide skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
• Take part in assessing patient care needs and maintaining agreed standards of care
• Follow Codes of Professional Practice and deliver high quality care in the peri-operative environment
• Prepare and maintain sterile equipment
• Assist surgeons during operations
• Ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures

• NMC registration

• Minimum of 6 months' experience as a registered nurse in theatres

• Additional certification and skills, as required by the Trust
