CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector

Overview

CDM Smith is seeking a CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector 5 in Kingsport, TN. The role involves inspecting and monitoring construction activities on transportation projects and may require complex inspection in multiple categories.

• Inspect and monitor construction activities at project site(s).
• Perform the most complex inspection activities for at least 2 of the following categories:
  Roadway, Bridges, Drainage, Erosion & Control, Maintenance & Traffic.
• Read, interpret and explain construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications; communicate findings.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI (American Concrete Institute) or NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Valid driver s license. Domestic and/or international travel may be required (20% travel).
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Intermediate knowledge of arithmetic and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
