Job Details:

• Work 36/36 schedule with every other weekend coverage

• No call requirements

• Required to float to other units as needed

• Must maintain 1:7 patient ratios on Med Surg units

• 2 years of nursing experience required

• Accepts first-time travelers

• AHA BLS certification required

• Med Surg/Telemetry and Med Surg experience required

• Must live 100 miles from the facility

• 16 hours of non-billable orientation beginning on Sundays with online CBLs

• Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education

• Required skills include telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code team participation, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing/managing ports, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts and maintenance, heparin and insulin administration, PCA management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

• Experience with Meditech charting system preferred

• Flu vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions only

• Drug test must be completed within 12-14 calendar days prior to start date

• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed for CDC fit testing guidelines

• 4-5 hours of non-billable modules completed during orientation

This healthcare facility operates a 30-bed Med Surg unit with a daily census of 30 patients, providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for adult patients. The facility offers extensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services. The organization is committed to nursing education and requires all contract nurses to actively participate in supporting nursing students and clinical education programs.
