Inpatient Financial Counseling Specialist performs benefit education and validation. This includes face‑to‑face review of inpatient benefits, authorization, and collecting inpatient, observation, and outpatient in a bed liability throughout Ensemble Health Partners. This position handles accurate verification and calculation of patient liabilities including previous balances, collection of patient payments, and may require nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. The position pays $18.65 – $19.90/hr based on experience.
The role is onsite at Ballad – Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement are offered.
- Verify inpatient benefits face‑to‑face and assess patient insurance and financial information to determine liability.
- Collect estimated patient liability, make at least 3 attempts each day to visit a patient’s room to collect at least 3 attempts each day.
- Make follow‑up phone calls to patients that are unable to make payment while in‑house and send letters to patients post‑discharge detailing an estimated liability and options to pay.
- Assist eligibility specialists in the verification of insurance information, Medicaid, charity processing, and other tasks as needed.
- Run a daily census to determine patients with potential eligibility.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- 1+ years of customer service experience required.
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) required within 6 months of hire (company paid).
