CarpenterHelper – Kingsport, TN
The Carpenter Helper assists skilled workers in performing assigned duties and a variety of tasks. This non‑exempt role reports to the Foreman and is assigned duties according to specific procedures. Work is checked frequently.
Essential Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferably six (6) months of experience in the specified skill
- Ability to focus on the task at hand without distraction
- Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
- Compliance with company and client job site safety requirements
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Read and sign off on JSA before starting shift. The employee may perform one or more of the following duties:
- Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel
- Touch up paint
- Pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials
- Handle building materials
- Fix flats and change out tires on trailers and mobile equipment
- Lift and carry materials such as pipe and fittings throughout the facility
- Help with tools and equipment such as welding machine set‑up, rigging for the crane, tightening headstock, etc.
- If certified, may be required to operate the crane
- May be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
Final compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement- May be required to climb ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
- Maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
- Reach in all directions; handle and manipulate objects and materials
- Coordinate movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment
- Lift 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
- Carry objects, tools, equipment, etc.
- Stand/sit, walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, crouch/squat
- See with or without correction; hear with or without correction
- Wear respirator and other PPE
- Typing/data entry
- Use stepstool; work in excessive heat or cold; work in loud environment
