Empire Life is looking to hire a Graphic Designer to join our Communication & Design team for a 12 month contract!

What you’ll be working on

  • Updating existing design materials and contributing to the creation of new concepts and creative elements for marketing materials, identity design, website designs, email and social media campaigns, digital ads, and banners that help define the visual direction of new campaigns and product launches.

  • Collaborate on and maintain the day-to-day workflow of assigned design requests, working with business partners from marketing, communications, compliance, translations, and web development through job completion.

  • Act as a consultant on branding questions and issues related to design.

  • Maintain Workfront project status and our DAM (Digital Asset Management system)

  • Participate in client presentations and internal feedback sessions

  • Keep current on our standard operating procedures and remain current on design trends, technology and processes in various media (e.g. digital and print)

  • What we’re looking for you to have

  • Graduate of a 3+ year post-secondary graphic design program

  • 0-3 years of work experience in graphic design

  • Excellent graphic design skills in typography, page layout, colour theory and use of brand standards and design systems. General understanding of UI/UX principles and prototyping techniques.

  • Excellent understanding of designing for multiple media: web, mobile, social, HTML5, email, print design and motion graphics

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma.

  • Knowledge or understanding of Work Front is an asset

  • Knowledge of AODA accessibility standards and designing for meeting the requirements for both web and PDF accessibility

  • Knowledge of complex form design, print prepress production

  • The Provisional Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) designation is an asset

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

  • Experience in the insurance/financial services industry is an asset

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships

  • Clear verbal and written communication

  • High degree of diplomacy

  • Attention to detail/accuracy
