Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer - HVAC
What You’ll Do:
Join Canarm HVAC as a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer and help shape the next generation of air movement products. In this hands‑on role based in Brockville, ON, you’ll partner closely with our New Product Development (NPD) team to design, integrate, and validate fan control systems for new and existing platforms—while also lending your expertise to set up and troubleshoot advanced manufacturing equipment and robotics when needed.

Driving Responsibilities:- Lead the electrical and controls engineering activities for fan control systems across new and existing product platforms.
- Develop and integrate control architectures, including sensors, actuators, motor drives, power electronics interfaces, and communication networks.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, panel layouts, and bills of materials; support design reviews and releases.
- Select and specify components (VFDs/EC drives, embedded controllers, instrumentation) and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Plan and execute verification/validation testing, including troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of field and lab issues.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (NPD, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, supply chain) to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.
- Support advanced manufacturing equipment and robotics: commissioning, process improvements, and uptime/throughput optimization.
- Provide hands‑on support during prototype builds, pilot runs, and production launches; create documentation and train technicians/operators as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement through standardization, design‑for‑manufacture/service, and lessons learned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- P.Eng. (or eligibility) required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in electrical and controls engineering within product development and/or industrial automation environments.
- Strong understanding of control system design, electrical power distribution, and industrial instrumentation.
- Demonstrated experience developing and troubleshooting PLC/HMI‑based systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ether Net/IP, Modbus, Profinet, CAN).
- Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis in lab and/or production environments.
- Working knowledge of machine safety concepts (risk assessment, safety circuits, interlocks) and relevant standards.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with HVAC systems, EC motors, VFDs, and motor controls.
- Robotics integration experience (e.g., FANUC/ABB/KUKA/Universal Robots), motion control, and/or vision systems.
- Familiarity with North American electrical codes and standards.
- Salary range: $90,000 – $110,000.
