Mechanical Designer

Position Overview

Mechanical Designer – responsible for design and optimization of layout for heavy industrial projects across mining, metals, and industrial infrastructure systems. The role will be located in a Canadian office, with preference for a Northern Ontario office.

• Prepare 3‑D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilities.
• Prepare process flow diagrams.
• Prepare design sketches.
• Prepare design calculations and design briefs.
• Prepare standard details.
• Prepare trade‑off studies and reports.
• Assist in checking vendor documentation.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standards.
• Provide input to departmental support tasks such as maintenance and revision of equipment libraries, department standards, and procedures.

• College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• 8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design, specifically with layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and piping installation requirements in the field.
• Consulting experience.
• Proven experience with AVEVA E3D, Plant3D, Revit, Micro Station, Solid Edge, and Smart Plant.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• French language skills (written and verbal) are an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering.
• Strong critical‑thinking skills and ability to solve problems effectively.
• Ability to work well in a team and as an individual contributor.

BC, AB, SK, NWT NU: $77,400 – $102,500

MB ON: $70,600 – $97,200

Atlantic Provinces & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
