National Safeguards Specialist at FAO Jamaica

FAO seeks a National Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist to implement sustainable agrifood systems in Jamaica. This impactful role focuses on risk assessments and compliance monitoring.

As part of FAO's efforts, you will ensure that environmental and social safeguards are integrated into projects aimed at supporting vulnerable communities. Your expertise will help assess potential risks, manage screening outcomes, and facilitate key stakeholder interactions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform environmental and social risk screenings on projects

• Monitor the implementation of mitigation measures

• Engage stakeholders and document their feedback

• Compile reports on operational monitoring activities

• Assist in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment processes

Requirements:

• Degree in environmental or social sciences

• At least 5 years of relevant experience

• Proficient in English at a working level

• Strong coordination and communication skills

• Must be a national of Jamaica
