OpportunityWSP is currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Ontario Bridge Team. The role is based in either our Ottawa or Kingston office. You will work on the preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other civil structures for federal, provincial and municipal clients in Ontario and across Canada.
Responsibilities- Lead the preliminary and detailed design of complex bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures for all levels of government.
- Perform and coordinate structural analysis and design.
- Manage bridge engineering projects, coordinate design teams, and support project management and technical teams across WSP.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and reports.
- Provide QA/QC and peer‑review services for designs and drawings.
- Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction.
- Contribute to proposal development and technical write‑ups.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to intermediate and junior engineers, support staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Demonstrate sound written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and application skills.
- Work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.
- University degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (licensed with PEO) with 7–12 years of demonstrated experience in structural design and bridge engineering in Canada.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
- Ability to work and converse in French is considered an asset.
- Superior technical understanding, design abilities, and up‑to‑date knowledge of current bridge technologies.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software used in bridge design and assessment.
- Specific expertise in the planning, preliminary and detail design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, and culverts; knowledge of current Canadian design codes and standards is essential.
- Experience with inspection, assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Experience in report and proposal writing.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams.
- A committed team player with a willingness to help others and collaborate with team members.
- A valid driver’s license.
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100
- MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800
- NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
