The City of Brockville is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader to serve as its next City Manager.

Reporting to City Council through the Mayor, the City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer of the Corporation and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, organizational direction, and oversight of all municipal operations. The City Manager is Council’s principal advisor and plays a critical role in advancing Council’s vision, priorities, and strategic objectives while ensuring the long-term financial, operational, and organizational sustainability of the municipality.

Opportunity

As City Manager, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Corporation through the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Serve as Council’s principal advisor on municipal operations, policy matters, governance issues, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of Council’s strategic priorities and organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and service excellence across the organization.
  • Provide stewardship of the City’s financial resources and oversee long-term fiscal sustainability.
  • Provide strategic leadership during periods of economic uncertainty and changing fiscal conditions, balancing service delivery expectations with long-term financial sustainability.
  • Support Council in identifying opportunities that strengthen Brockville’s economic competitiveness, resiliency and future growth.
  • Support effective workforce planning, leadership development, succession management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, businesses, community organizations, external agencies, and other levels of government.
  • Champion initiatives that support community growth, economic development, infrastructure investment, and regional collaboration.
  • Ensures the City operates in compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and corporate policies.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a highly respected and collaborative executive leader who possesses strong political acumen, business insight, integrity, and a commitment to community service.

You bring:

  • A university degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, political Science, Law, Planning, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in municipal government or a similarly complex municipal or public-sector environment.
  • Significant experience advising elected officials and working within a government framework.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex organizations through strategic planning, organizational change, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with budgeting, asset management, long-term financial planning, and navigating complex economic and fiscal challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership through periods of uncertainty, balancing organizational sustainability with community expectations and Council priorities.
