Become a Registered Practical Nurse at The Royal Ottawa in Brockville's Forensic Treatment Unit. Engage in full-time psychiatric nursing, supporting mental health care in a legal context.
In this essential role, you will provide specialized care to individuals entangled with the criminal justice system, focusing on those found Not Criminally Responsible or Unfit to Stand Trial. Skills in physical and mental health assessments, effective team collaboration, and therapeutic communication are vital to success. The position includes varied shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct mental health and physical assessments
• Provide medication management and treatment
• Establish supportive therapeutic relationships
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team
• Complete required training for safety in the workplace
Requirements:
• Graduate of a recognized Practical Nursing program
• Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Recent CPR/AED certification required
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and legislation
• Preferred two years of experience in psychiatric nursing
