Responsibilities& Qualifications
The Security Patrolperson ensures the security of the physical and human resources at our site and applies loss prevention strategies to incoming and outgoing traffic.
This is a part-time, casual position with varied weekly hours. The standard shift is 12 hours working primarily indoors with occasional outside patrols.
As a Security Patrolperson, you will:
- Apply sound judgment to plan, sequence, and execute work activities in alignment with Novelis’ standard operating procedures, work instructions, and the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System.
- Control access to plant property by ensuring employees, contractors and visitors are signed in appropriately.
- Screen all visitors and contractors, contact the appropriate staff member being visited.
- Notify Shift Supervisor of the nature of any alarms.
- Weigh and record all inbound and outbound transport vehicles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with site procedures. Verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, and ensure all materials leaving the site are authorized, properly documented, and in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor cameras, CCTV, and conduct in-person patrols to ensure plant, property and people safety.
- Direct transport drivers to loading and unloading areas for staging prior to being loaded/unloaded.
- Call outside contractors for snow removal, sanding, etc.
The successful applicant must have:
- An Ontario Security License, required.
- A G Class Driver’s License, required.
- Previous Security Experience, considered an asset.
The starting hourly rate for this position will be administered at CAD $21.71 per hour. Increasing per the Collective Agreement.
