Our Organization The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donation bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this critical role will work up to 29 hours per week, driving established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customers’ homes and donation bins and deliver them to our corporate partners and storage facilities.
Responsibilities- Promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the general public and volunteers.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the organization’s goals, services, programs, and structure.
- Operate vehicles in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and safely and responsibly.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Complete and submit appropriate paperwork daily.
- Complete and submit Hours‑of‑Service logs and associated paperwork.
- Carry proof of valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration/National Safety Code Registration documentation.
- Check in with dispatch at the beginning, mid‑day, and end of scheduled route.
- Provide an appropriate message card to each donor.
- Log all assigned pick‑ups and unload merchandise as instructed.
- Return all equipment to the office at the end of each day.
- Report route discrepancies to dispatch.
- Ensure only authorized personnel ride inside the truck.
- Participate in all required driving‑related NDT education, initiatives, directives, and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required for effective operations.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read maps.
- Ability to handle 10‑50 lbs loads.
- Ability to drive a 3‑ton (16 ft) straight truck.
- Strong organizational skills and route‑planning ability.
- Professional customer‑service attitude and public‑facing experience.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Full Class 5 and/or G license (or higher) for passenger car or light truck.
- Minimum 5 years actual driving experience at the above level (2 years if professionally trained).
- Clean driver abstract (less than 21 days old) with no violations or accidents in the last 3 years.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada (including valid work permit or study permit if applicable).
