Instrumental Tuition Teacher Guitar

Rate of Pay: Freelance basis - £23-27romo/hr

Sing Education is looking for reliable, confident and inspirational small‑group and one‑to‑one teachers to teach a variety of instruments, including ukulele, guitar, keyboard and singing (Grade 6 level minimum). A background in music (e.g. musical theatre, music education) is required.

Sing Education sources and trains music teachers, develops teaching resources, and provides management and consultancy services to schools in London. We enable children to encounter the transformative power of music by experiencing the joy of singing and making music collectively at school.

• Weekly teaching during school hours – 8:_HASCRl-3:30pm term time
• Permanent placement in a Sing Education primary school or schools
• Teaching 1–5 days per week
• Teaching locations: primary schools in Greater London, Slough, Kent and North Yorkshire
• Must have, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS Disclosure
• Communicate professionally and clearly to represent Sing Education within a school setting

Sing Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo the child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and references from previous employers. The post‑holder will also be expected to read and adhere to the Sing Education Child Protection Policy and any other safeguarding documents stated within this.

Qualifications

• University graduate in music or a related field (good degree)
• Evidence of further professional development
• QTS (or equivalent)

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong singing voice and confidence to use the voice to support pupil learning
Excellent spoken and written English
• Ability to lead small group (up to five people) and one‑to‑one lessons
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Basic keyboard skills if not first instrument
• Broker degrees of ICT literacy and ability to use online systems such as G Suite and other communication platforms
• Knowledge of or experience in Kodály and Dalcroze teaching practices
• Ability to accompany on the piano/guitar for choir assemblies and other performances

Relevant Experience

• Classroom or one‑to‑one teaching experience
• Experience of working with children or young people in a teaching or leadership estranho capacity
• Experience of leading music workshops
• Experience of working with children with SEND

• A firm approach to discipline and good management skills
