Role Overview
Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Leave) commencing August 2026. Kingston College is seeking a Deputy Head of School to support the Head of School in leading and managing curriculum provision within the School of Creative Industries.
Responsibilities- Deliver outstanding education and training across study programmes, adult learning and higher education.
- Ensure students achieve excellent outcomes, develop employability skills and progress into further study or employment.
- Contribute to the strategic and operational leadership of the College as a member of the School Management Group (SMG) and College Management Group (CMG).
- Support the implementation of College policies and procedures, including quality assurance, target setting, compliance, staff and student management.
- Improve programme performance through high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment, effective curriculum leadership, and monitoring and support of curriculum teams.
- Promote employability and progression opportunities through work experience and industry‑related learning.
- Lead and manage large teams including teachers, technicians and support staff at a senior level.
- Identify interventions for improvement and execute them with a demonstrable record of success.
- Conduct staff appraisal and training, and manage issues through relevant HR processes.
- Maintain high‑level information management skills and effectively use College systems.
- Relevant professional qualifications.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large teams at a senior level.
- Excellent understanding of Ofsted, OfS, awarding bodies and other relevant regulators.
- Strong knowledge of Government policy and emerging developments influencing the curriculum, particularly in relation to the local and regional economy.
- Demonstrable record of improving subjects/courses and achieving measurable improvement.
- Excellent staff appraisal and training skills.
- Experience with HR processes and exercising effective decision‑making.
- Highly developed information management skills and proven ability to use College systems.
- Annual leave: 37 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year and an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave.
