Overview
The Nystagmus Network is seeking a qualified accountant to take over from our retiring Treasurer. We’re a UK charity supporting people affected by nystagmus, providing information, community and research funding to improve lives for those living with this complex eye condition.
What difference will you make? The board includes trustees with lived experience of nystagmus and backgrounds in business, research, and education. Together we’re focused on
- Strengthening leadership and operations
- Growing and diversifying income
- Continuing to fund life-changing research
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to a small, respected charity at a key point in its development — helping us build on strong foundations and plan confidently for the future. You’ll be joining a small, supportive board of trustees who care deeply about our cause and work closely with a dedicated staff team. Together, we’re helping people with nystagmus live more confident, independent lives — and your financial expertise will be key to keeping the charity strong and sustainable for the future.
Whatare we looking for?
We’re looking for a qualified accountant who can bring financial clarity, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to our board.
You’ll have experience in bookkeeping and preparing management accounts, budgets and year-end reports, ideally with some knowledge of charity accounting (restricted funds and reserves). Confidence with Xero or similar software would be an advantage, though a full handover and support will be provided.
This role suits someone who enjoys being both hands-on and strategic — happy to manage the numbers day-to-day but also able to step back and advise on long-term financial planning.

The Nystagmus Network is looking for a new Treasurer to join our small, friendly Board of Trustees and help shape the charity’s financial future. We’re a national charity supporting people affected by nystagmus — providing information, community and advocacy, and funding vital research into this complex eye condition. Our current Treasurer will step down at the June 2026 AGM after nine years in post, so we’re planning an early handover to allow time for a smooth transition.
