About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

The Tenancy Relations Officer is responsible for leading the Council’s response to investigate breaches of private sector housing law, in particular relating to the Renters Rights Act 2025 and the Protection from Eviction Act 1977. The role will aim to mediate and intervene between landlords and tenants to successfully resolve disputes to ensure tenants reside in safe accommodation and landlords are supported in managing their accommodation.

Operating within the Council’s Community Housing and Regulatory Services, this role varies from providing basic housing advice to undertaking enforcement and litigation actions relating to criminal offences such as illegal eviction and harassment, conducting formal interviews under caution, and preparing comprehensive prosecution files for court.

About You

We are looking for a Tenancy Relations Officer with strong experience in frontline public housing, private rented sectors, or regulatory services. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation, particularly regarding enforcement, as well as the ability to conduct complex investigations using PACE and CPIA standards.
