Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Inpatients (AMBIN) is a highly specialised haemato-oncology transplant day unit delivering inpatient-level treatments within an outpatient setting. We care for patients undergoing supportive therapies, systemic anti-cancer treatments, and cellular therapy administration.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Staff nurse to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who demonstrates strong leadership potential and is passionate about delivering exceptional haemato-oncology care.

You will work alongside a highly skilled and motivated multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), and education teams.
Main duties of the job- Plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, in conjunction with the shift coordinator.
- Develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with guidance from the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.

These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the shift coordinator:
- Complete the first level assessment of the patient’s needs to gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of patients with cancer and their families, and develop a positive, realistic and supportive attitude to ensure that the needs of the patient and family are met.
- Assist with teaching patients in preparation for investigations, treatment and home care.
- Be aware of the side effects of any treatment in progress and adopt a problem‑solving approach to minimise potentially adverse reactions.
- Be involved in the direct delivery of skilled specialised nursing care with supervision until competent, e.g. wound dressings, removal of drains, and insertion of urinary catheters.
- Develop an awareness of the protocols involved for patients undergoing clinical trials.
