Position: Waste Operative/ Porter
Hours 7am-6pm Monday to Friday (4 on 4 off) Salary:
Competitive At Grundon, we are looking for two Waste Operatives/Porters to join our team and support the day to day delivery of our essential NHS waste management service at Kingston and Richmond Hospitals. Reporting to the Client Engagement Lead, you will play a key role in supporting Grundon's mission to leave a better planet for future generations. Working as part of our NHS waste management team, you will be responsible for operating waste processing equipment, loading and unloading vehicles, inspecting and segregating waste materials, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the site.

You will also help ensure all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures. Collect, transport and manage clinical and domestic waste to support essential NHS services. Carry out routine waste collections, replacing bins, and cleaning containers to maintain high hygiene standards. Operate waste compactors and baling cardboard in line with environmental and compliance procedures. Ensure all waste is handled, stored, and secured correctly, following site and regulatory requirements. Complete documentation accurately and reporting any defects, hazards, or incidents promptly.

Participate in training and ensure you work to established procedures while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and confidentiality. About you Knowledge of COSHH regulations, infection prevention, and control procedures. Understanding of safe manual handling practices.

Experience of waste handling and disposal, ideally within a healthcare, clinical, or waste management environment. Familiarity with NHS procedures and Health & Safety requirements is desirable. Strong communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail. A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in demanding environments, including exposure to clinical waste, dust, odours, and dirt while using appropriate PPE, with a commitment to confidentiality, dignity, and patient privacy Full UK driving licence and access to transport, or the ability to commute independently to the hospital site.
