XIBIT Studio

Rupture

XIBIT is an inclusive, artist‑run space/art incubator located in Hampton Wick, London. It hosts art‑mentoring & coaching workshops, intensive immersive residencies and experimental exhibitions.

We host an Invitational Residency once a quarter for visual artists. These month‑long, sponsored residencies are for artists with more established practices who want to take the time and space to develop new work.

These residencies are FREE and offer the artist in residence connection to the Rupture community. You will have the opportunity to discuss new work and work in progress that is pushing or advancing your practice.

We are currently accepting proposals for winter 2025 and spring 2026.

Residencies do not require complete work or a show, but you must host an artist’s talk and join the quarterly Open Studios Salon Event.

In the 350‑sq‑ft high‑street shop‑front gallery you will receive four weeks of studio/gallery space, access to workshops and group critiques, informal support, and promotion across multiple platforms. Our in‑house team provides full support.

What can you gain from a Residency at Rupture

XIBIT?

Over the past five years the Rupture team has worked with over 1,000 international artists at all career stages, offering a platform for growth and collaboration. We meet each artist where they need to be met and provide the time, space, and rigor to examine and expand their individual practice.

Residents gain a sense of strength, purpose, and permission. They become ready to work, have met new artists, and leave Rupture with new ideas and confidence. Many have gone on to show work with other exhibitions and galleries across London and beyond, and have created collaborative relationships.

About our Mentors

Our mentors include Kate Howe (MA RCA Painting, MA Kingston University Creative Writing, BA Art History, AA Technical Theatre, PhD candidate at the University of Leeds),
Sally Minns (Painter‑Stainers Scholar, Diploma and Post‑Diploma in Figurative Painting from The Heatherley School of Fine Art),
Dr. James Miller (PhD, published author, head of Creative Writing at Kingston University), and Dr. Anna Johnson (PhD, published author, tutor in creative writing at Kingston University). All are professional educators in their respective fields.

What is Rupture

XIBIT Mentoring?

Mentoring is bespoke, meeting each artist right where they are, identifying practices that feel thin or inauthentic, and helping them remove roadblocks for development. It focuses on building a scaffold of practice, trusting their work, and working from impulse. We provide workshops and one‑on‑one support.

We believe the solution is not a one‑size‑fits‑all plan, but tailored to your current practice and goals.

Who is this residency suitable for?

Solo applicants or small artists’ collectives who have established practices.
