Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and reliable commercial Carpenter / Foreman to lead our field carpentry crews on commercial construction projects. You will bridge the gap between project management and site tradesmen, supervising daily operations, performing rough and finish carpentry, and ensuring all work meets safety, code, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Crew Supervision: Lead, mentor, and direct a crew of carpenters and laborers on commercial job sites, assigning daily tasks and monitoring productivity.
- Hands-on Carpentry: Perform and oversee rough and finish carpentry, including metal and wood stud framing, structural wood systems, drywall blocking, door and hardware installation, millwork, and miscellaneous concrete work.
- Blueprint & Spec Interpretation: Read and interpret commercial architectural blueprints, structural drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on site.
- Schedule & Material Coordination: Track daily progress, report updates to the Project Manager, manage material needs, and coordinate with other on-site subcontractors.
- Quality Control: Inspect work-in-progress to ensure compliance with project plans, commercial building codes, and high-craftsmanship standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in a lead carpenter, leadman, or foreman role.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in rough/finish carpentry, field layouts, and reading technical commercial construction documents.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team-management skills to direct crews and communicate with project managers or clients.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift heavy building materials, and work in varied outdoor or indoor weather/site conditions.
- Credentials: High school diploma or GED equivalent (vocational/apprenticeship completion preferred); valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Compliance: Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug/alcohol screenings as required.
