Are you a calm, resilient and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can truly make a difference?
Teacher Active are proud to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Bury, Greater Manchester that supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH),
Autism and challenging behaviour

This long-term position offers the chance to join a dedicated, supportive team that works hard to create positive change in students’ lives — and for the right person, there’s a strong likelihood of going permanent
, giving you real job security.
- Support students with SEMH, Autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
- Build trust, provide emotional support and help learners re-engage with education.
- Work closely with teachers, mentors and behaviour leads to implement individual support plans.
- Encourage personal growth, resilience and positive choices.
- At least 6 months’ experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
. - Experience with in a PRU, Alternative Provision or SEND setting is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
- A passion for helping students achieve their full potential — academically and personally.
- Long-term role with potential to go permanent
