House building and Construction We Recruit Group is working exclusively with Jelson Homes, they are long established family-owned house builder who are looking to appoint an experienced Construction Health & Safety Advisor. Established for more than 130 years, the business has an annual turnover exceeding £110m and employs over 350 people. Alongside its residential developments, the wider groups operations include commercial and industrial construction, plant and machinery, transport, logistics and supply-chain activities.

Reporting to the Director of Health & Safety, you will join an established in-house team responsible for maintaining and continually improving health and safety standards across the groups construction businesses. The role offers an excellent opportunity for someone working directly for a house builder or contractor, or a construction H&S consultant looking to move in-house. Projects are concentrated across the East Midlands, providing varied regional work without the requirement to regularly stay away from home.

You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors, senior management, designers, engineers and the Land and Planning team, acting as a trusted source of practical health and safety advice. Responsibilities Promote a positive health and safety culture across the groups construction operations. Provide practical advice and guidance to site teams, managers, directly employed operatives and subcontractors. Undertake regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings to site teams and senior management.

Review subcontractor RAMS and safe systems of work, identifying areas for improvement. Support the continued development of the companys health and safety management system, policies and procedures. Monitor changes to health and safety legislation and communicate the necessary actions across the business. Lead accident and incident investigations, including statement taking, report writing and recommendations to prevent recurrence. Support the Director of Health & Safety with RIDDOR reporting and communication with the HSE and other enforcing authorities.

Attend health and safety meetings with senior managers and contribute to the companys safety committee. Monitor and coordinate health and safety training, e-learning and competency records. Support occupational health surveillance, employee wellbeing and behavioural-safety initiatives. Prepare monthly health and safety performance reports. Manage specialist H&S trainers or consultants where required. Requirements A minimum of three years health and safety experience within the construction sector.

Previous house building experience would be advantageous, although candidates from general contracting or construction consultancy backgrounds will also be considered. NEBOSH Construction Certificate. NVQ Level 4 or an equivalent health and safety qualification (desirable). Tech IOSH membership or above. Strong knowledge of CDM 2015, construction practices and current health and safety legislation. Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and subcontractor RAMS reviews.

Previous accident investigation, statement taking and report-writing experience. The ability to coach, influence and build trusted relationships with site teams and senior management. A practical and solutions-focused approach to health and safety. Strong IT, administration and organisational skills. Full UK driving licence. Apply The position offers:
