As a Principal Teacher of Guidance, you will play a crucial role in supporting the wellbeing, progress and personal development of young people throughout their journey at Kinross High School. You will be responsible for a designated caseload of learners, ensuring each young person is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. This role promotes and models our school values of Ambition, Compassion, Resilience and Responsibility.

Areas Of Responsibility
  • Provide high quality pastoral support to a caseload of young people.
  • Build strong, trust‑based relationships with learners and their families.
  • Guide and support learners through their journey at Kinross High School.
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
  • Teach Personal & Social Education (PSE) in line with school and national guidance.
  • Promote and uphold the school values of Ambition, Compassion, Resilience and Responsibility in all interactions and decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, external partners and school leadership to support positive outcomes for all learners.

Additional Requirements

Working with children and/or protected adults is regarded as a regulated role and, under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, you will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.

If you have lived overseas for a period of 12 months or more (continuous or total) within the last 10 years, whilst over the age of 18, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.

GTCS registration is required.

A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of the above‑mentioned mandatory pre‑employment checks (including references) and will also include eligibility to work in the UK, qualifications and fitness to undertake the post.
