Mechanical Engineer - Renewable Energy

Location: Olen, Belgium

Employment Type: Permanent, site-based

Company Overview

We are supporting a growing engineering and technology organisation operating within the renewable energy sector. The business delivers engineering, manufacturing, and technical support services for large-scale clean energy and sustainability-focused projects across Europe. Due to continued growth at their Olen facility, they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support ongoing and future projects.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and equipment used within renewable energy and sustainable industrial applications. The role offers hands‑on exposure to plant-based engineering activities, project support, and continuous‑improvement initiatives within a modern production and engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, review, and optimisation of mechanical systems, equipment, and layouts for renewable energy applications
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, calculations, and specifications
  • Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment on site
  • Participate in equipment selection, vendor evaluations, and technical discussions
  • Ensure mechanical designs and installations comply with applicable standards, codes, and safety requirements
  • Support maintenance, reliability, and performance improvement activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical, and project engineering
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working in an industrial, energy, or manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to renewable energy, sustainable technologies, or process‑based industries is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design principles, rotating equipment, piping, and mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with European engineering standards and safety practices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is advantageous
