Mechanical Engineer

Location: Scotland

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join out client in South Ayrshire, who are a leader in there industry.

Your role will be to maintain and repair industrial machinery in a fast‑paced production environment. You'll work on a wide range of equipment, carrying out planned maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns and ensuring safe, reliable plant performance.

What you'll be doing:

Mechanical maintenance on mills, presses, dryers, conveyors and material‑handling equipment
Fault finding and carrying out safe, effective repairs
Working with hydraulics & pneumatics - cylinders, valves, pumps, actuators
Maintaining rotating equipment - gearboxes, bearings, couplings, fans
Supporting process equipment including boilers, pumps and thermal systems
Using CMMS to manage and record maintenance tasks
Working safely under PTW, LOTO and site safety procedures

What we're looking for:

Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship
Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry
Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills

Experience with hydraulics & pneumatics
Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs
Proactive, safety‑focused mindset

Desirable:
Experience in biomass, wood processing, pellet plants or other industrial environments.
