Planning Director

As a member of Planning and Inspections with Lenoir County Government, you can make a difference! Lenoir County Government is seeking candidates for a Planning and Inspections Director. Candidates are responsible for directing a department responsible for land use planning, development, zoning, building code enforcement, community development, and permitting functions for the County.

Duties also include serving as technical advisor to the County Manager, Planning Board, Board of Commissioners and other advisory boards. An employee in this class will have extensive public contact, and the work requires a variety of technical and detailed knowledge, and considerable independent initiative and judgement. The employee works to ensure that well-planned and orderly growth and development occurs through proper ordinances and programs, thereby making efficient use of the County’s land and resources.

This position is considered essential and requires reporting to work for inclement weather and as other needs arise within the division.
