Summary- Collection of blood specimens from properly identified patients through established procedures; transportation and receipt of specimens to the laboratory with distribution to various departments.
- Collects blood samples using approved techniques.
- Collects blood specimen according to age‑specific needs.
- Correctly identifies patient and labels the blood tubes.
- Draws blood at correct time and collects the appropriate specimen in sufficient quantity.
- Demonstrates competence with collecting blood on all age groups and their special needs. Maintains 100% compliance in patient identification by hospital armband prior to collection and keeps annual blood culture contamination rate
