Job Title
Electrician II - Caswell Developmental Center
LocationCaswell Developmental Center (Maintenance)
Work Hours7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair or replace wiring, electrical devices, machinery and equipment.
- Install new electrical circuits and related materials for new equipment.
- Install entertainment equipment for clients.
- Perform preventive maintenance work orders on electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair or replace medical equipment, automatic door operating units, commercial cooking and related equipment.
- Other duties assigned by management for proper management of Caswell Center and for the best care of the clients situated at this facility.
- Follow all safety/health rules and practices, including appropriate lifting techniques, use of appropriate safety equipment such as guards and protective clothing, and safety‑oriented attitude.
- Report all accidents immediately to your supervisor.
- Follow all Universal Precautions Guidelines.
- Review applicable sections of Infection Control Manual as necessary to stay current.
- Considerable knowledge of standard practices and methods of the electrical trade.
- Skill in the use and care of tools of the trade.
- Ability to locate and correct defects in electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
- Ability to train others in the electrical trade.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Valid NC Driver's license required to fully perform the duties of this position.
- Current Electrical License.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in commercial/industrial electrical installation and repairs; interpretation and understanding of NC Electrical Codes, NFPA 70; interpretation and understanding of blueprints and technical drawings.
- Minimum two (2) years experience in operation of related equipment (backhoe, skid steer, trencher, forklift, wire pullers, conduit benders, etc.); proper use and care of related trade tools; drawing diagrams.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in use of computers for research, email, and records.
- Ability to lift 90 lbs safely.
- Ability to work on a ladder and pass the required physical for wearing a negative pressure respirator.
- Physically able to work in hot and cold environments and in confined spaces.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience. May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
