Company OverviewFord Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL), a 600‑person manufacturing plant with a 60‑year history, is investing up to £230million to transform the facility to build electric power units for future Ford vehicles.
Role SummaryMechanical Maintenance Engineers play a pivotal role in ensuring production machinery, assembly lines and equipment are maintained and repaired as required to maximise uptime while meeting the company’s Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Environmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform fault‑finding and diagnosis on a range of equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, CNC machines and robots in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and industry standard practices.
- Record all work undertaken.
- Analyse and resolve mechanical faults and repairs, driving continuous improvement for machinery.
- Follow safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Work alongside other Maintenance Engineers to combine initiative with a sound understanding of electrical and mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with vendors, production and process engineering teams to ensure optimum uptime and machine improvements.
- Essential:
Recognised Engineering Craft Apprenticeship and ONC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering. - Essential: PC literacy, ability to work under pressure, teamwork, effective multitasking and a “can‑do” attitude.
- Previous employment in a Mechanical Maintenance Engineering role.
- Experience of preventive maintenance, fault‑fighting, diagnosis of faults on pneumatics, hydraulics, lead screws, spindles, alignment, machine overhauls, CNC machines and assembly lines ideally.
- Excellent communication skills; technical cross‑shift handover / line‑up.
- Experience utilising mechanical technical manuals and drawings.
- Basic annual salary £46,587.88, inclusive of a 35% premium on all allocated holidays (33 days, 25 vacation + 8 bank holidays).
- Shift premium on all hours worked apart from day shift, with potential earnings up to £64,151.51 per year on a 3‑shift pattern.
