Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine (LW)
We are looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine to join our team. This post will support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at clinicians with 4 years post foundation experience, including emergency medicine, and will suit someone who wishes to continue to broaden their clinical experience and training in Emergency Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Initial assessment and management of patients attending the ED
- Provide 24‑hour middle‑grade cover, including overnight and weekend shifts, under consultant supervision
- Supervise and support FY2s, GPSTs and ENPs in patient management
- Work in all areas of the department and participate in observation ward rounds
- Support development and maintenance of an individual portfolio for continuing professional development
The department includes an 8‑bay resuscitation area, a 9‑bay majors area, a 6‑bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated procedures room and a 6‑bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit that admits primarily toxicology and head‑injury patients. Electronic pathology and radiology ordering are available. The ED achieves strong performance in sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and the 4‑hour target. 24‑hour senior doctor presence is provided with 23 consultant emergency physicians (19 WTE) from 08:00 to 23:00, alongside GP‑wSI and ENP support sessions.
