Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision and patient care? We are seeking skilled and dedicated phlebotomists to join our healthcare team across the UK. This vital role places you at the heart of patient diagnostics, where you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens with accuracy and care, supporting the diagnostic processes that are crucial to patient health and treatment outcomes.

As a phlebotomist, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless delivery of healthcare services, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that values your expertise and commitment to excellence.

• Perform venepuncture and capillary punctures to obtain blood samples from patients of all ages, including infants and the elderly, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum efficiency.
• Accurately label and process specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to strict protocols to maintain sample integrity.
• Provide exceptional care and reassurance to patients, explaining procedures clearly to alleviate anxiety and ensure a positive experience.
• Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff, to ensure the smooth flow of diagnostic services.
• Maintain an organised and sterile work environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are used safely and effectively.
• Adhere to established guidelines and protocols for sample collection, handling, and transportation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Participate in regular quality control and assurance checks to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in test results.
• Maintain meticulous records of all specimens collected, including patient information, test requisitions, and processing details, using electronic health record systems.
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry to support efficient laboratory operations and patient care.
• Engage in continuous professional development, attending training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and stay current with advances in phlebotomy and laboratory practices.
• Seek opportunities for additional certification or training to broaden expertise and advance within the healthcare field.

• Completion of a recognised phlebotomy training programme or equivalent certification.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of experience as a phlebotomist in a healthcare setting, preferably within the NHS or a similar environment.

• Specialist training or experience in pediatric phlebotomy or working with patients with special needs.
• Experience in high-volume clinical settings, such as hospitals or large GP practices, handling diverse patient populations.

• Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems (e.g., EMIS or Systm One).
• Exceptional manual dexterity and precision in performing blood collection procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, ensuring accurate specimen collection and data entry.
