Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the acute stroke team in Ward 42. We are currently seeking nurses who have a keen interest in stroke care and want to develop their learning in the area of stroke. Ward 42 is a 24-bed unit taking patients directly from A&E, MHDU and acute admission ward. The hospital delivers thrombolysis on a 24/7 basis and there are exciting changes coming with the development of the national thrombectomy service.
The ward has a close working relationship with the multidisciplinary team and provides patient-centred stroke care.
- Contribute to patient-centred stroke care as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team.
- Support delivery of care with effective communication and collaboration within the team.
- Demonstrate initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
- 1st level Registered Nurse with an interest in developing knowledge and skills in acute stroke nursing.
- Excellent communication skills and team-working abilities to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in caring for stroke patients is not necessary, as training will be provided.
Various hours available, rotational over days and nights, working 11.5 hour shifts.

- From 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
- A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
