The role:

The role of the postholder is:- To take responsibility for a designated clinical caseload and provide an efficient and effective occupational therapy service
- To assess, plan, implement and monitor occupational therapy treatment/management programmes for patients
- To work within multi-professional/agency settings to ensure co-ordinated care for patients and carers
- To further enhance clinical and organisational skills to meet the needs of patients and the organisation
- To be actively involved in audit/research locally and within the organisation

- We are delighted to welcome applications to this band 5 Occupational Therapy role in Renfrewshire CAMHS
- The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
- This is a fixed-term post for 18 months
- Professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care
- With direction from the Team Leader; triage, prioritise and manage an unpredictable patient group effectively and efficiently. Referrals are accepted from GP’s, Consultants and other Health Care Professionals, as well as Educational Professionals and self-referrals
- To provide occupational therapy services as lone practitioner in Clinic, patients home, nursery, primary and secondary schools both mainstream and special school locations as required
- Identify those patients with the risk of serious pathology who require urgent referral to other services and appropriately manage the ongoing referral
- Use clinical reasoning skills to assess, analyse both clinical and non-clinical information and provide a comprehensive clinical diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for clinical intervention
- Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to achieve maximum developmental potential – including decision making regarding discharge from care
- Work within a legal framework to assess capacity, gain valid consent for treatment from all patients
- Manage an identifiable caseload of patients effectively and efficiently
- Liaise regularly with Senior Occupational Therapist/staff to gain support supervision and direction in management of more complex patient presentations within their caseload

- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- CPD portfolio demonstrating maintenance and updating of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in line with research developments and evidence based practice
- Demonstrable knowledge of a range of assessment tools, relevant to the wider caseload and this specialist patient group and setting
- Demonstrable knowledge of and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of Paediatric and/or mental health conditions
