Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Practitioner or Staff Nurse within the Pre‑assessment suite at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. This is a fixed‑term post for 9 months covering maternity leave and will primarily be Monday to Friday, depending on the needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Charge Nurse in delivering a clinically effective service preparing patients for admission for surgery.
  • Assist in managing waiting‑list patients attending for elective surgical procedures, working closely with Nurse Practitioner colleagues, Consultant Anaesthetists and Surgeons.
  • Carry out comprehensive medical assessment, physical examination and manage ongoing medical needs of elective patients to facilitate planned admission for surgery.
  • Develop and expand the role to meet the needs of the patient and the service.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Staff Nurse (Band
    5):
    Relevant previous experience in a variety of surgical / orthopaedic settings; knowledge of the acute surgical / orthopaedic pathway desirable.
  • Nurse Practitioner (Band
    6):
    Completed the Advanced Clinical Examination and Non‑Medical Prescribing course.
  • Member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.
