Job Summary
Responsible for assisting pharmacists, patients, and other healthcare personnel in the provision of pharmaceutical services. The primary role is to deliver medications to patient care areas, triage medication delivery, and support clinical excellence and safety.
Primary Duties- Answers and triages phone calls and in-person requests with excellent customer service.
- Accurately calculates, determines, and selects the correct dose to be measured, withdrawn, and/or assembled for the final product to be checked by the pharmacist.
- Safely and accurately prepares medications checked by the pharmacist. Activities include compounding topical ointments and creams, repackaging unit dose medications, compounding oral solutions, and preparing hazardous oral medications.
- Maintains pharmacy inventory, checks stock levels, places orders, verifies receipt, rotates inventory, and removes outdated drugs.
- Ensures proper storage of medications per manufacturer requirements and organizational policies, including look‑alike, sound‑alike, high‑risk, and emergency medications.
- Provides timely delivery of medications for all patient care areas, restocking automated dispensing cabinets, fulfilling floor stock requests, and supplying emergency and routine medications to ED, OR, and procedural areas.
- Safely, accurately, and efficiently operates pharmacy automation and technology, processes requests, operates tube stations, communicates via telecommunications, restocks and troubleshoots automated dispensing cabinets, runs reports, repackages, and credits/debits medications.
- Maintains proper chain of custody for controlled substances, ensures storage, delivery, and accurate accounting.
- Completes all daily tasks timely and efficiently, communicates with team members to assess workflow, and supports coworkers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.
- Organizational ability.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in busy and stressful situations.
- Healthcare pharmacy experience.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
