The Development Manager is a key member of Homeward Pet’s Development team and plays a central role in strengthening donor engagement, expanding revenue-generating partnerships, and supporting long-term sustainability through database excellence and relationship management.
This position leads corporate partnerships and sponsor ships, supports monthly giving program growth, contributes to annual fund and campaign strategy, and provides oversight and optimization of our CRM system, Bloomerang.
The Development Manager works closely with the Director of Development, the Events Coordinator, Marketing and Communications, volunteers, and external partners to advance Homeward Pet’s fundraising goals and ensure exceptional donor experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities Corporate Partnerships & Sponsor ships (40%)- Develop, steward, and grow a portfolio of corporate partners that align with HPAC’s mission and values.
- Cultivate corporate engagement opportunities including sponsor ships, workplace giving, matching gifts, and volunteer activations.
- Lead corporate outreach for major fundraising events—including the annual Fur Ball Gala and There’s No Place Like Homeward Pet 5K.
- Create compelling sponsorship packages and fulfillment plans that provide value to partners and visibility for HPAC.
- Ensure accurate tracking of partner agreements, deliverables, and stewardship actions in Bloomerang.
- Support the expansion and retention of HPAC’s monthly giving community.
- Collaborate on strategies to increase recurring donor acquisition, upgrade opportunities, and stewardship touchpoints.
- Assist with multi-channel annual giving campaigns including direct mail, email, social media, and donor segmentation.
- Coordinate donor recognition, acknowledgments, and personalized stewardship communications.
- Secure corporate and community sponsor ships for the annual Fur Ball Gala and 5K race, meeting established revenue targets.
- Support event planning teams with donor research, sponsor benefit delivery, on-site event logistics, and guest stewardship.
- Assist with cultivation and stewardship of event attendees, VIP guests, and corporate partners.
- Help oversee the Bloomerang CRM, ensuring accuracy, segmentation integrity, and best practices in data hygiene.
- Collaborate with the Development Coordinator on gift entry, reporting, donor records, and acknowledgment workflows.
- Produce meaningful donor and revenue reports to inform strategy and support forecasting.
- Recommend improvements to CRM processes, automation, and documentation to enhance efficiency and donor experience.
- 2+ years of experience in fundraising, corporate partnerships, event sponsor ships, or related nonprofit development work.
- Demonstrated success engaging corporate partners or securing sponsorship commitments.
- Experience working with a fundraising CRM (Bloomerang preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft donor-centered messaging.
- Excellent relationship-building abilities and comfort communicating with stakeholders, volunteers, sponsors, and donors.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with data, reporting, and CRM processes.
- Experience in animal welfare or passion for supporting animals and families.
- Experience with fundraising events, peer-to-peer campaigns, or digital fundraising tools.
- Knowledge of donor pipeline development and donor segmentation strategies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit (approximately 80% of workday) and walk/stand (20% of workday). The employee may occasionally be required to lift or move material up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, bend or squat.
