Responsibilities
  • Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the Meat/Seafood department.
  • Support the day‑to‑day operations of the Meat/Seafood department.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies.
  • Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process; train associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, company guidelines and food safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained; maintain temperature logs.
  • Implement the period promotional plan for the department; create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Train and develop associates on performance; participate in performance appraisal process.
  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes; update shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Track and control expenses for the department.
  • Provide support and assistance to customers and associates, including minors, individuals with special needs and older adults.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Report all safety risks, incidents and illegal activity (e.g., robbery, theft, fraud).
  • Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates.
  • Promote trust, respect and teamwork among associates.
  • Develop performance goals for department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Maintain knowledge of store layout and locate products efficiently.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of meat/seafood specials.
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Cut seafood to customers' requests using proper cutting equipment.
  • Keep inventory records accurate; note any discrepancies in inventory.
  • Adhere to country of origin labeling and regulations; comply with all food safety guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition and subtraction).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Current food handlers permit (once employed).
  • Adequate knife handling skills and knife speed.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping and labeling.
  • Seafood experience.
  • Retail experience.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
  • Promotion of trust and respect among associates.
  • Communication of company, department and job specific information to associates.
  • Collaboration with associates and promotion of teamwork to achieve company/store goals.
  • Developed adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Training and development of associates on job performance and participation in performance appraisal.
