Join the Google team as a Senior Software Engineer, Generative AI/ML, Search Ads, based in Mountain View, CA or Kirkland, WA. This role focuses on large‑scale recommendation systems, ML infrastructure and generative AI techniques for search advertising.

Google's software engineers develop next‑generation technologies that scale to billions of users. This position involves designing and implementing recommendation systems models, leveraging machine learning infrastructure, and working with large‑scale data. You will also fine‑tune large language models for ads applications across our product portfolio.

• Write and test production‑grade code for product or system development.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices.
• Contribute to documentation and educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback.
• Design and implement recommendation systems models across domains, leveraging ML infrastructure.
• Work with and fine‑tune LLMs for targeting, large‑scale retrieval, pseudo‑rater and other ads applications.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience with Python.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year in software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models (retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization, search quality, embedding) in production.
• 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience working with very large data sets.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 1 year of experience with GenAI techniques or concepts.
• Experience building products using ML techniques, including NLP.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $166,000‑$244,000, plus bonus, equity and benefits.
