MOSDOH - Dental Hygienist - St. Louis - Part Time

A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking a part‑time, non‑exempt Dental Hygienist instructor on the St. Louis, MO campus. The position involves directly supervising dental students performing non‑surgical periodontal procedures, providing clinical hygiene services with direct patient periodontal maintenance and prevention, and facilitating the clinical Quality Assurance program.

• Participate in instruction and grading of non‑surgical periodontal procedures.
• Participate in instruction and grading of clinical experiences related to dental hygiene.
• Participate in faculty calibration meetings and professional development activities.
• Contribute to the clinical program as directed by the Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Advanced Dental Education.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Dental hygiene degree or an associate degree in dental hygiene.
• Knowledge of periodontal anatomy and physiology, and parameters for periodontal surgical referral.
• Experience in designing and implementing NSPT Programs.
• Current Missouri Dental Hygiene licensure with local anesthesia certification and nitrous oxide analgesia certification required, or ability to obtain a Missouri Dental Hygiene license and certification.
• Current AHA CPR BLS or equivalent training approved by the MO Dental Board.
• 3‑4 years experience preferred.
• Some experience in either the provision of dental hygiene or instruction of hygiene techniques.
• Experience in formal courses/programs in educational methodology.
• Understanding of evidence‑based dentistry and dental hygiene.
• Experience with competency‑based education.

• Highly skilled in dental hygiene.
• Objectivity is a must in grading competency‑based education.

• Team oriented, strong mentoring abilities, and personable.
• Ability to remain calm and defuse situations.
• Attention to detail.
