Description

A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) family medicine program is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor/Family Medicine Physician to serve as a core faculty member. The family medicine residency, established in 1975, builds on the holistic rural medical education that has been delivered here since Andrew Taylor Still MD opened the first osteopathic medical school in Kirksville in 1892. This core faculty will provide clinical supervision, teaching and role modeling for family medicine residents and osteopathic medical students, and will directly support addressing the population healthcare needs of this rural community in northeast Missouri.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and assessment of residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Train and supervise medical students assigned to the clinic.
  • Participate in GMEC, subcommittees, task forces, and special/internal review committees as requested.
  • Work with other Family Medicine faculty to ensure a positive learning climate.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection of resident candidates.
  • Facilitate residents' participation in educational and scholarly activities.
  • Direct and coordinate patient‑care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection‑control standards.
  • Provide comprehensive medical services for patients on a continuing basis.
  • Assist in clinical presentation development, integration of case formats into the curriculum, and development of cases for evolving curricula.
  • Assist in identification of assessment issues and resolution of those issues affecting KCOM students and faculty.
  • Assist in revisions, development, and presentation of policies affecting KCOM students and faculty.
  • Interview KCOM applicants, serve on committees, and perform other duties assigned by the chairperson, associate dean, or dean.
  • Participate in faculty development supporting professional goals as a medical educator and leader.
  • Develop learning objectives, lecture materials, and assessment items related to coursework.
  • Submit annual Faculty Activity Report.
Qualifications
  • Must have a DO or MD.
  • Must be a Board‑Certified Family Physician through either the AOA or ABMS.
  • Federal DEA Certification.
  • Active physician medical license.
  • Clinical teaching experience.
