Assistant Professor of / Instructor in Nursing – Nursing Simulation Coordinator (Fall 2026)
The Truman State University nursing program invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track or non‑tenure‑track nurse faculty position to teach and coordinate the Nursing Simulation Center. The role involves teaching clinical simulation to undergraduate nursing students across Assessment and Fundamentals, Adult Health, Pediatrics, Maternal/Neonatal, and Critical Care. The coordinator will manage simulation equipment inventory, plan, prepare, and maintain equipment, and design simulation and clinical lab experiences grounded in evidence‑based practice guidelines.
Collaboration with faculty and students will develop simulation scenarios and curricula that reflect AACN practice‑ready competency‑based behaviors and provide feedback on performance. The educator will create a lab environment that replicates real clinical settings, promotes active learning, critical thinking, effective communication, and the confidence needed to deliver safe patient care.
- Teach clinical simulation to undergraduate nursing students in multiple courses.
- Manage simulation equipment inventory, planning, preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Design and implement simulation and clinical lab experiences based on evidence‑based guidelines.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop simulation scenarios and curricula aligned with AACN competencies.
- Provide feedback to students on clinical skills performance and facilitate reflective learning.
- Maintain a realistic lab environment that supports active learning and problem‑solving.
- Valid State of Missouri Professional Nurse License.
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- Recent classroom or clinical teaching experience. li>
- BLS certified.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with simulation technologies (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, high‑fidelity simulators, monitors).
- Computer/simulation software and/or audio‑video training proficiency.
- For tenure‑track applicants: demonstrated ability to conduct research and scholarly work that can lead to publication and/or presentation, preferably involving undergraduate students.
Five (5) years of experience in clinical nursing practice.
- Doctoral Degree (earned or in progress).
- Three (3) years of recent teaching experience in simulation technology, standardized patient training, or related education/training environment.
- Supervisory experience of students and supporting staff.
- Experience in development and coordination of educational programs.
- Acute care experience.
- Simulation certification (CHSE, INACSL/ISEP).
- Experience with Brightspace and other educational platforms.
