Overview

A.T. Still University (ATSU) seeks a non‑exempt human resource generalist for its Mesa, AZ campus. The role coordinates daily employment functions to ensure compliance with EEOC regulations, state and federal labor laws, and ATSU policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include maintaining scanned employee files, interacting with employees, department heads, and applicants, handling initial phone and in‑person inquiries, collaborating with the HR specialist to post jobs and advertise vacancies, conducting reference checks, and overseeing onboarding for new employees at the Arizona and California campuses.

Job Duties
  • Prepare and maintain change sheets for each pay period so the Payroll department can balance.
  • Process all requisitions for the AZ/CA campus.
  • Process all status forms for the AZ/CA campus.
  • Ensure new employee paperwork and documentation is completed and appropriately prepared by meeting with each employee on or before the employee's first day of work.
  • Submit each new employee to the E‑Verify system accurately and promptly.
  • Verify that the ATSU application, CV, background screening, license verification, and official transcripts are on file, when applicable, prior to extending offers.
  • Serve as a backup for management of the Human Resources department email account.
  • Accurately input employee payroll information. Review, complete, and input incoming employee information prior to the second Tuesday of each pay period for hourly employees and within five days of the end of the month for salaried employees.
  • Validate accurate entry into the computer system.
  • Conduct reference checks upon request.
  • Deactivate terminated employees from the payroll system.
  • Ensure all requisitions are approved with the appropriate signatures for job vacancies and are posted for a minimum of three days.
  • Work with hiring managers to provide access and knowledge of the pool of applicants in the HRIS.
  • Maintain ongoing applicant tracking status of applications and transfer requests, documenting distribution and action taken.
  • Maintain accurate information for openings on the ATSU internal job posting, ATSU webpage, and with job‑service internet postings.
  • In coordination with the HR specialist, place advertisements in local and national media as requested by the hiring manager.
  • Keep other departments up to date on active employee listings.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows software environment.
