** We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Family Support Worker team within the Children & Families Service.

The Family Support Worker will aim to provide flexible intensive family support that enables children and young people on the edges of care, and their families, to receive the right support at the right time, building on their strengths and reducing the need for statutory supports by sharing resources, learning, and creating solutions that help families to thrive.

Qualities required of the successful applicant are a sense of humour, non-judgemental attitude, acceptance of others and confident. We are looking for a highly organised, customer-focused individual and the ability to communicate, facilitate and engage effectively with people is an essential part of this role.

You would love to work in this role if you are committed to championing the rights of children and young people, are a skilled influencer and will inform good working practices and passionate about adopting a person-centred and strengths-based approach to working with people.

To be appointed at grade E:

You should have a good general standard of education, including literacy and numeracy skills AND there is a requirement to achieve HNC Social Care and SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People) within 3 years of taking up appointment.

For appointment at grade F:

You should hold an HNC Social Care and SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People).This post is subject to Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children.

You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
