Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) – relief basis – multidisciplinary team within our acute hospital services.
RoleWorking under the support and supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a wide range of patient care tasks with confidence and competence
- Help ensure high standards of nursing care are consistently maintained
- Follow NHS Orkney policies and contribute to a safe, supportive, and person‑centred environment
- Take part in ongoing personal and professional development to maintain and enhance your practice
You will hold an SVQ3 qualification or have equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience, on‑the‑job training, and short courses. Understanding of confidentiality, ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, confidence using your own initiative and working with minimal supervision, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and awareness of infection control procedures and Data Protection requirements.

Salary:
Band 3. If residing on Orkney, a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,657 pro‑rata per annum is added. NHS Orkney offers an attractive pension scheme, work‑life balance policies, employee assistance programme, and various discounts.
